Welcome to the website of the Hawks Road Residents Association (HRRA). The association was formed in November 2002. Hawks Road is in the Norbiton Ward of Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. The road is located within walking distance of Kingston town centre, Norbiton station and Richmond Park.
Some of our achievements during this time are:
- an Annual Garden Competition, now in its 3rd year
- a regular newsletter for all residents
- lobbying for the introduction of a 20mph speed limit
- banning lorries using the road before 7am
- lobbying for new bins
- this website
- lobbying for construction of a zebra crossing
- representation on several committees
- lobbying for pavement resurfacing
- lobbying for banning alcohol on the Fairfield
- Lorries (up to 48 tonne) travelling to and from Villiers Road Waste Transfer Station. All these are routed through Hawks Road. Concern was expressed about the times they operate, the frequency, size, weight and speed of these lorries and the danger they pose, particularly to pedestrians, schoolchildren and cyclists.
- Excessive speed of all traffic when the road is not congested.
- Installation of pedestrian lights in Albert Road, near the junction with Hawks Road, linked to the lights at the junction with Hawks Road and Villiers Road. Pedestrians, and particularly children, take their lives in their hands when trying to cross this Road.
- Increased damage, intimidation and nuisance caused by alcoholics and substance abusers, who loiter in the Fairfield and 'fix' on private property.
If you are a resident of Hawks Road you will be aware of these problems, or have other concerns to raise. The HRRA has been formed to make representations to the Council and other bodies on your behalf.
All residents, including tenants, are eligible. To register telephone one of the Committee members or email the Secretary Ray: , giving your name, street number and preferably home and/or mobile number, email address and details of any expertise that may be of help to the Association
We are currently in the process of setting up a Neighbourhood Watch in the road. If you would like to help out with this, please contact the Chair Chris:
If you have just moved to Hawks Road or are going to soon, download our informative 'Welcome to Hawks Road' document.
